R K Flooring Ltd was appointed to carry out the replacement of safety flooring at the Ryanair Training Facility, located within Stansted Airport. The works formed part of a facilities upgrade aimed at improving safety, compliance, and durability in high-traffic circulation areas.
Scope of Works:
- Removal of existing vinyl floor coverings across five internal staircases
- Mechanical and manual preparation of the existing subfloor to ensure a sound, level substrate
- Application of appropriate smoothing compound where required
- Supply and installation of Polysafe Standard PUR safety vinyl – a heavy-duty, slip-resistant floorcovering suitable for commercial environments with high footfall
- Installation of Genesis stair nosings to all treads and landings, providing enhanced slip resistance and ensuring conformity with HSE and DDA guidelines
Project Outcome:
The completed installation delivered a clean, professional finish with long-term durability and safety in mind. All works were carried out in a live environment with careful coordination to minimise disruption to Ryanair’s ongoing training operations. The new flooring system meets both performance and compliance standards, aligning with Ryanair’s commitment to staff safety and operational excellence.
